I can tell you, somewhat embarrassingly that I have picked out nearly every Valentine's gift Jon has ever given me. In fact, I can tell you that the gift I requested this year is shown above, but you'll just have to wait and see which one it is! Regardless, I LOVE a good polyvore set, so I had to build one around this lovely (somewhat ridiculous) holiday. We're planning to treat ourselves to a nice dinner and I really can't wait for that! Happy Valentine's Day to all my lovers out there!

My New Favorite Scent
You may remember that I showed some love to Pinrose in this post about a year ago (wow, it does not feel that long ago!). I can tell you that my love has not weakened since then. I was lucky enough to be sent a bottle of my favorite scent, Rooftop Socialite, and I have been wearing it nonstop!
This scent is so light and fresh and it has me daydreaming of warmer weather, I cannot wait to be sitting outside for my first al fresco meal of the summer wearing this.
Thank you SO much to the Pinrose team for really brightening my day and strengthening my love for all things Pinrose!
Check out Pinrose's newest scent, Lovebug, this will definitely be the next scent I try!

Wednesday Words
I am always looking forward, almost to a fault. The truth of the matter is this, you can't change the past, so there is no use dwelling on it. Look forward with hope, optimism, and excitement!

Petit Vour December Box
Every month, I fall more in love with Petit Vour and their great selection of vegan/cruelty free products. Honestly, you don't have to subscribe to either lifestyle to enjoy this box, I'm completely surprised every time I find a great product that just happens to be vegan. December is no different, another great stash of goodies and I LOVE that every month I receive 1-2 full sized products-this month was the nail polish and I believe the blush was full sized as well!
- Blissoma- Smooth A+ Perfecting Serum- I've been dabbing this serum under my eyes and on my lids every night before bed and my skin feels plump and brighter thanks to this super gentle and effective serum. I will say this though, I'm not sure why it comes in a dropper because its very creamy and I can't easily get it to work, I've been using a q-tip or my pinky to pull it out of the container.
- Trust Fund Beauty-Nail Lacquer in Money Buys Happiness-This nail polish does not disappoint. I've always wondered if "lighter" nail polishes that lack all the usual chemical suspects are as long lasting and effective as their concerning counterparts and in my experience I'd say that they are. This polish definitely stayed on, dried quickly, and stayed perfectly shiny for over week. After visiting PV's website for the link to this polish, I fell in love with Classic Cash, a shimmery evergreen shade too!
- Meow Meow Tweet-Lavender Deodorant Cream-I've been using this deodorant cream for a little less than a week now and I have to admit that it has far surpassed my expectations. I've stayed mostly dry, a bit of wetness here and there was experienced and generally pretty pleasant smelling. I will admit that by the end of the workday, I was applying more as soon as I got into my house, but I sometimes do that anyway depending on how stressful my day was. I want to test it out in a hot yoga class to see how it stands up. To be completely honest, I sweat buckets and often smell after class anyway, so I may not notice a difference.
- Everyday Minerals-Matte Blush in All Smiles-I began using this blush at the exact same time as the deodorant and again I was pleasantly surprised. What I thought at first was a very bright, not for me coral has turned into a new favorite. It's a very subtle coral when applied and gives me a hint of warmth. While I was at my desk the other day, sitting beneath an unforgiving fluorescent light, Jo made a comment about me looking more tan than usual. That's a HUGE win in my book! Lastly, this blush lasted throughout the day and the color is very customizable and buildable to your taste. I think the proof is in the pudding, it's been sold out on the Petit Vour website for a few weeks now!

Gray Malin x Compartes
I've very recently fallen in love with both Gray Malin and Compartes chocolate. The bad news is that most of Gray's work is outside of my price range, but Compartes isn't! Luckily for me, they've decided to partner up to create delicious chocolate bars. I couldn't be more excited about this collaboration and I'm dying to try both. I certainly hope my husband is reading this post, since Valentine's day is just around the corner (hey babe).
Two bars are available, Beach Sprinkles (white butterscotch chocolate with sprinkles) and Sweet Seas (milk chocolate with sea salt and waffle pieces). They're $14 each and $28 for the two pack on Gray's website (here). As an added bonus, if you buy a print of either of the photos featured on the bars ($399 and up), you'll be treated to a free bar. Pretty sure I'm gonna buy one of the prints just to nab a free bar!

My Guilty Pleasure Playlist
Last weekend, Jon and I drove an hour to meet my south Jersey family for our belated Christmas celebration. This presented itself to me as the perfect opportunity to compile a guilty pleasures playlist considering we have not so compatible musicals tastes (Iggy Azalea for lyfe)! The list below was a big win for us and had us laughing and singing all the way to Old Bridge! I linked back to any Youtube videos I could find, beware, there a few doozies in there!

Lately
I feel like I've been popping in and out around here, so I thought it might nice to catch up with a few recent details.
I can't get enough of these Baublebar ear jackets, this Daniel Wellington watch, these Frends headphones, and this Azature Nail Polish!
In late November, my friends and I got together to paint our own ceramics and I came home with this 3 part serving tray and espresso set. I wouldn't consider myself very creative, but I had so much fun and loved how my pieces came out!
Check out Doin' Dishes in Montclair, NJ!

I've begun reading How to be Parisian Wherever You Are and so far I love it! It's such a fun and easy read. You can check out my friend Samm's post about it here! You can also follow the book's Instagram here to ensure you're receiving your daily dose of the Parisian fabulousness! Also, this Blueprint coffee concoction is amazinggg! I can't wait to make this part of my routine once the weather warms up!
I've very recently (as in two days ago) become obsessed with introducing organic elements into our house. So, I dragged the husband to Ikea on a Saturday night to pick up some greenery and we landed upon these three babies-they're all boys by the way. Pineapple is the succulent, then Octopus is behind him and Art Garfunkel is to his right. Currently they are clustered on our dining room buffet under a window, I hope they like it there and continue to flourish and provide green pops in our house.
While on our Saturday night trip to Ikea, I discovered that they now offer gift wrapping and small desk wares, think color coded bags, wrapping paper, ribbon, post-its, and gift tags. All of it is very reminiscent of The Container Store but SO much cheaper. Naturally I nearly blacked out and started grabbing all the gift tags I could. At 99 cents for 10 gift tags, I really feel that I can buy as many as I want (though my husband begs to differ). Regardless, get thee to the nearest Ikea and stock up for all of your birthday and "just because" gift giving needs!
*Very lastly, check out the Coffee Table Jazz playlist on Spotify if you need some easy listening music to work or hang out to!

Current Obsession-Brown Bagging
I saw these clutches on the Forever 21 Instagram sometime last week and loved them immediately but decided to be financially responsible and not order one. A bad day at work coupled with the onset of a cold prompted me to throw caution to the wind and order the white version (a big deal for me, considering black is an option). You really can't go wrong, it cost me $30 with regular shipping and arrived in 2 days, I'm a happy camper (and my cold is on the way out)!
Bags available here.

Oil Slick
I'm pretty sure that anyone reading this blog right now is enduring the most frigid temperatures to hit NJ in a while (blerg). My skin, which is normally very oily and hydrated has been flaking off my body. I am 100% percent serious, skin has been flaking off my hands-I can't live like this. I've been trying to rehydrate my skin in the midst of trying to wrangle my newfound acne (this is a post for a whole 'nother day). I've really been gravitating towards oils for a while now, and the love affair has only deepened. I noticed that they've found their way into many steps of my skincare routine, with the help of Petit Vour sending me a new option nearly every month. I had to gather them all together to share.
I'm still on the hunt for 2 more types of oils, so help a sister out if you know of any good cruelty-free cuticle oils or dry oil sprays for hair.
1. S.W. Basics Makeup Remover-$14.00- I have to admit that I'm not a nighttime face washer-spare me the lecture, I know it's terrible. For many a year I have loved and used makeup removing wipes for their convenience and lack of wetness. One of my absolute pet peeves in life is washing my face outside of the shower, so wipes have been my go-to. Well, a few months ago I received this makeup remover in a Petit Vour box and I dutifully unpacked it and stowed it in my bathroom cabinet. Once I noticed that my current makeup removing wipes were pulling out my eyelashes, I gave this oil a try and I have not looked back. It's comprised of Sweet Almond oil, Olive oil, and Jojoba oil. While gentle on my lashes and skin, its super effective at removing makeup, even waterproof mascara and I love the light sheen it leaves behind once I've finished.
2. Earthbody Sacred Skincare Dream Body Oil-$23.00-This is yet another Petit Vour find that I unpacked and tucked away for a couple months before giving it a try. Well, recently I noticed that the skin on my shoulder blades felt tight and patchy, so I began smoothing this oil on after showering and before bed. The scent is so light, fresh, and a bit minty; and it doesn't leave me feeling like I'll slide out of bed-it soaks into my skin so quickly. This is the second Earthbody product that I received and I adore it just as much as this mask! The bottle states that this little beauty is meant to "enhance mental clarity and restore moisture", which sounds like a dream to me! (I'm sorry, I had to)
3. Yes to Coconuts Cooling Lip Oil-$4.99 (Target Exclusive)-This lip "oil" is so creamy and delicious. Not creamy in the sense that its milky or like traditional gloss, but in the sense that it feels so smooth and slick on the lips. I don't get much of a cooling feeling from it, but that's totally fine by me, I'm trying to keep it nice and warm over here. It goes on super smoothly and stay put, with just the right about of stickiness. The scent is very light and tropical and reminds me of beachy vacations every time I apply it. Its a bit heavier than most glosses, which makes it perfect for nighttime and bed. Usually, I'll apply this oil before getting into bed and once I've given goodnight kisses to the husband and both pugs, it's gone-but hey, sharing is caring.
4. Aura Cacia Organic Argan Oil-$10.55-Now, everyone and their mother makes Argan oil, but I purchase Aura Cacia because it's really easy for me to get my hands on it. I can grab it at Fairway or Whole Foods while on a food shopping trip-convenience is a big deal for me! I purchased my first bottle of oil last winter to smooth into my hair before blow drying. My hair is so thin and fine that I walked out of the ordeal with that "sweaty" look that was seen all over the runways-not a good look for moi. Then I became determined to use this $30 oil that I now owned and began smoothing it onto my face at night and that's when the real love affair began. I truly believe this oil helped smooth my skin and grow my eyelashes and eyebrows. Basically, I'll smooth this shit on everything (I don't do Frank's Hot Sauce).
5. Aura Cacia Tea Tree Oil-$8.32-The same sentiment applies here, I can grab this stuff at any time, so Aura Cacia wins out. I was first introduced to Tea Tree oil in September of 2013 when I began working at Powerflow Yoga (back then it was Garden State Yoga), where all communal yoga mats, blocks, and straps were sprayed down with a tea tree and water solution to disinfect them. After a bit of research I learned that Tea Tree oil is a natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial oil. The first time I brought it into my home was to create a spray very similar to that used in the studio to ward off mosquitoes from my precious pups on summer nights. This method is great, unless you are in the woods of Ontario, then unfortunately, you've gotta spray on some Off Deep Woods despite your morals and concerns. All that back story aside, I love to take a bit of straight up (this may be too harsh for some) on a q-tip and use it as an acne spot treatment. Basically, like Argan oil, this stuff can be used for SO many purposes.
6. Caru Skincare Co. Rose Facial Serum-$32.00- This facial oil makes me feel so dainty, I imagine myself as a true lady, sitting in my boudoir applying this lightly scented rose oil. Really that image could not be further from the truth-I've been living in uggs, ratty red pj pants, and a perfectly broken in t-shirt. Either way, I love this oil-I'm not sure if its really done anything to repair my skin, but it smells lovely and makes my face feel so soft. Also, my husband doesn't complain about it much, so that's a win-win (he gripes about the scent of most of the things I smooth on my skin).
*Vitamin E capsules-$12.50-When I was little, my grandmother would use a pin to pop one of these vitamins to smooth the oil on any cuts or scrapes I had. 20 years later, I've realized that she was an absolute genius. I'm currently nursing two burns on my hand from holiday baking I need to get some of these babies ASAP to heal my skin. I may even do before/after pics to show how effectively this works!

Wednesday Words
Everyday I realize just a bit more that if you want something, you have to go out and work for it (or take it in some cases).
Happy dream hunting, friends.

On Balance
I've been lethargic, eaten too much candy, shirked most of my responsibilities, had my car rear-ended, purchased gifts for myself alongside nearly every gift that I bought for others, and generally have had enough with my self.
Friends, it's time for some change in my life.
I'm the type of person that runs at full speed with arms wide open into routine and then routinely complains about how bored I am with it. I cannot sustain this life. So, I've turned over a new forest (forget that old adage about a leaf and tree-I'm getting really serious now).
I've taken some time from blogging to focus on work craziness, family obligations, holiday nonsense, and my husband and pups. I've also taken some time away from yoga and healthy eating habits, I've also been tardy to every occasion that I have attended in the past 6 months to a year (this is not a new realization).
I didn't intend for this to be a confession, but here we are.
I feel that if I admit all of my nasty little habits and thoughts that I can exorcise them like demons and move on with my life.
The short version of this post is that I don't feel that I've been living up to my potential in any area of my life and I want to make changes, move forward, and grow. The new year has presented itself as the perfect starting point for me. If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have noticed my use of the following hashtag: #Balancing2015 . Balance has presented itself to me as the number one quality I need to cultivate and strengthen in my life and I've already begun my work.
In addition to that, I was reading an article about how terrible multi tasking is (in Darling magazine), where I felt really struck by an idea presented by Pauline Brown (North American Chairman of LVMH) regarding life quadrants. The gist is that she categorizes her life into 4 quadrants and strives to work on each one throughout the day. Hers were family, friends, self, and work. I loved that idea and have decided to jump onboard with this thought process. My quadrant is below, and you can bet that I'll continue to reference it here as I navigate my way through the rest of the year.
Stay tuned, this could be a train wreck or the year that I finally get my life (in order).
Happy New Year!
xx
